• Sandy Hunter (Weaver High School Class of 1973) Ms. Hunter was the salutatorian for her high school class. She went on to receive her degree in education from Jacksonville State University

    Coach Hunter spent 20 of her 24 years in coaching at Pleasant Valley High School where her softball, volleyball, and track teams won 13 state championships. Known for her phenomenal coaching and motivational abilities, she guided her 20 volleyball teams to a 798-160 overall record and 5 championships. Her 15 softball squads compiled a 546-93 mark with seven state titles. She coached 3 years at Weaver High where her track team won a state crown in 1981.

    She was a member of the AHSAA state volleyball All-Star staff twice and served on the All-Star Week games committee. Ms. Hunter was inducted into the AHSAA HOF in 2003 and the Calhoun County Sports HOF in 2007. Ms. Hunter contributes a large portion of her success to the teachers she had while a student at Weaver High.
