Parents Right to Know

Overview

The Parents’ Right to Know Act (Act 2024-35) requires Calhoun County Schools to provide access to the current adopted curriculum for each class on the school’s website. It also ensures that students, parents, and guardians of enrolled students can access online curricula through the school’s website. Calhoun County Schools is committed to aligning all academic and curricular decisions with the Alabama State Department of Education’s Courses of Study, the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP), and the ACT. The Alabama Courses of Study are available on the Alabama State Department of Education website.

Individual Classroom Curriculum

In addition to the lists above, individual schools and educators have the flexibility to supplement these resources to support mastery of specific educational standards. These supplemental resources are available upon request through the local school.

Physical Inspection & Complaint Process

If you are a parent or guardian of a student enrolled with Calhoun County Schools and you wish to physically inspect an instructional tool used in your child’s classroom, you may make a request to your school's principal.

If you wish to file a complaint in reference to The Parents to Right to Know Act for failing to provide requested curriculum information in a timely manner, you may complete the district’s complaint form using the button below. Submissions from this complaint form are received by the Office of the Superintendent.
