My name is Lucretia Gower Poole, and I am a very proud teacher, alumnus, community member and parent here at Ohatchee High School.  I currently teach 7th Grade Citizenship and Geography, and 8th Grade Ancient World History.  In my teaching career, I have taught all grades seven through eleven and was also the varsity cheer coach here for several years, as well as the Beta Club Sponsor and History Club sponsor and am currently the Key Club sponsor.  I was also active as an Athletic Booster Club member for many, many years along with my husband, Gregg, who served as Treasurer and President.

I have resided in Ohatchee nearly my entire life and would not want to live anywhere else.  My mother graduated from here in 1961, and I have many, many other relatives who also attended school on the Creekbank as well.  It was here, in third grade, that I met the boy who would become my future husband, Gregg Poole.  After we graduated here together in 1986, we were married in 1989 and chose to remain in Ohatchee, pursue our careers, build our home and raise our family.  I graduated in 1989 from Jacksonville State University with my Bachelor's Degree in Social Science.  I then worked at Wellborn High School for one semester and then as a legal secretary for nearly five years.  After our first son was born, I proudly chose to be a stay-at-home mom and worked part-time as the Children's Ministry Director at Hill Crest Baptist Church.  After my children were older, I decided to return to teaching and began teaching here at Ohatchee in 2002.  I received my Master's Degree in 2004.  Gregg was employed as a professional firefigher/paramedic with the Anniston Fire Department for 25 years and just recently retired as Lieutenant.  He is currently teaching high school seniors in the Firefighter program through the Alabama Fire College and the Career Academy at the Anniston Fire Department.  We have three children, Jonathan who graduated in 2013, Courtney who graduated in 2016, and Josh who graduated in 2019. 

After being a student here myself and dreaming of coming back home to teach, I feel tremendously blessed to be able to walk these halls now as a teacher.  I consider it a serious responsibilty and a tremendous honor to teach our Ohatchee students, who are some of the best kids around!  I truly hope that my students know how much I love them, my family, my school and our great country.  Go Indians and Roll Tribe!
