Mr. Derek Cobb

Derek Cobb begins his 23rd year as an educator and 8th year as principal of Alexandria Elementary School.

Mr. Cobb graduated from Handley High School in Roanoke, Alabama.  He attended Jacksonville State University where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education/ Social Science.  He earned a Master's degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama in 2010. 

Mr. Cobb started his career in education at Ohatchee High School where he taught history and served as head baseball coach and assistant football coach from 2001-2004.  He then moved to Piedmont High School where he taught from 2004-2006. While at Piedmont, he served as an assistant football coach, assistant baseball coach, and head baseball coach. In 2006, he accepted a position to teach at Saks High School. He also served as head baseball coach and assistant football coach from 2006-2010 during his time at Saks. Mr. Cobb was hired in 2011 as assistant principal at White Plains Middle School. He served in this capacity until he returned to Saks High as assistant principal in July of 2012. He served as assistant principal at Saks High until July of 2016 when he was hired as principal of Alexandria Elementary School. 


His wife Jessica is a reading interventionist at Saks Elementary. They have two children, Caroline and Jay Michael.
